About 50plus Handyman

50plus Handyman provides a professional and guaranteed property maintenance service for householders and businesses. The service is provided by a mature workforce for people of all ages, offering experience and reliability to all our customers.

The 50plus Handyman service* includes:

Service Packages

50plus Handyman has service packages tailored for most customers including:

For domestic customers, landlords and letting agents:

  • A Pay As You Go service with a simple half hourly rate for the smaller jobs
  • Estimates for jobs we can reasonably estimate which are over 8 man hours in duration
  • Electrical, gas, EPC certificates and more for landlords and letting agents. Click for further information

For commercial customers:

  • A Pay As You Go service with a simple half hourly rate for the smaller jobs
  • Fixed prices for jobs we can reasonably estimate which are over 8 man hours in duration
  • Tailored packages with rates dependent on time of response and the time of day the work is undertaken
  • Installation services for customers supplying goods or equipment that needs installing in customer premises.

Charges

Pay As You Go charges for smaller jobs

Pay As You Go is designed for smaller reactive repair jobs. Charges vary by area, reflecting local operating costs. Our prices can be checked by postcode on our home page.

With the exception of Tiny Tasks (typically up to 15 minutes) our minimum charge is for one hour.

VAT is added to the prices in a number of locations as shown when entering your post code on our home page. Some rounding may occur when VAT is calculated.

There is no call out fee and no mileage charge. Larger electrical, plumbing and decorating works are usually estimated. Fault finding is a chargeable task.

Day rates are designed for larger jobs over 8 hours or more and can attract substantial discounts. As with Pay As You Go, charges vary by area, reflecting local operating costs. Please enquire for details.

Prices apply 0800 to 1800 Monday to Friday. We charge an additional 30% for working on evenings and on Saturday mornings and an additional 50% working on for Sundays. Any parking or road charge fees we are required to pay will be added to your invoice. If you live in an area with restricted parking let us know. We do ask that where applicable customers supply a residents parking/visitors permit to allow us to park.

Materials and parts are charged at cost plus 20% if we purchase. Customers are welcome to supply their own materials and 50plus can advise on requirements.

Unless you have set up a credit account with us you may pay:

  • by credit/debit card when ordering by telephone
  • on completion of the work by credit/debit card.

If you need to postpone an appointment please let us know at least 24 hours in advance or on the previous Friday if the job is for a Monday.

If you do need to cancel an appointment please give us at least 24 hours notice or let us know by the previous Friday if the job is for a Monday, otherwise a cancellation fee of the minimum one hour charge may be applicable.

Who provides the service

The service is provided locally by direct employees or appointed 50plus service providers. Gas engineers are Gas Safe registered. 50plus itself is registered for electrical work.

Where we offer service

We cover a good deal of the UK. Please enter your post code on the home page for a list of locations where service is available.

Estimates

Estimates are normally provided free of charge. Smaller jobs of up to a day in duration will normally be estimated over the telephone. Larger jobs may require a visit to enable an estimate to be provided.

50plus Handyman generally provides an estimate based on our professional judgement of the time and material required to undertake the work. With time and materials you pay for our time on an hourly basis (for each person employed on the project) and for any material we use during the course of the works.

Fault finding requiring the use of tools is a chargeable task.
