The 2017 Chesham Donkey Derby Sunday 25th June

This year's Donkey Derby is on Sunday 25th June 2017 at it's annual home at Botley Playing Fields, Botley Road, Chesham. The Derby has been running for 27 years and in addition to the fun racing includes a park full of traditional games and activities. The event is organised by the 3rd Chesham Scout Group to raise funds to maintain their premises and equipment and to support some families so everyone can enjoy scouting.

The Derby has seven donkey races on which you can lay a small wager or just watch as the compact animals hurl themselves down the course, shedding their riders if possible. Some do remain seated to win! You can purchase cakes and hot and cold drinks from the refreshment tent and locally made burgers and sausages from the BBQ. Donkey rides and petting animals plus many craft stalls are included.

The Derby also offers a smashing time on the crockery stall and coconut shy and the opportunity to soak your friends in the stocks. Golfers may test their skills with the putting range and bowlers on the skittle alley. The Grand Raffle has cash first and second prizes and there are a great range of other activity stalls and attractions. Chesham Fire Engine will also be present - unless it has a call out. Free parking is available onsite. Programmes with race listings are just 2.

The Donkey Derby is a fun family day. Start time is 12:30 with the first race at 1pm and the last at 4pm. Come and join us.
