The service is designed to provide peace of mind for the homeowner and includes a HomeCheck report detailing the condition of a property and the option to upgrade to a monthly Handyman visit. We welcome Doug Watson as the franchisee October 2006 - Over 65's will rise by 50% in 25 years. England faces a population boom but the population will be ageing according to the Office for National Statistics. By 2029 the population will rise by more than 6 million driven by immigration but over 12 million people will be aged over 65, compared to 8 million today. September 2006 - expansion in the last months has seen new 50plus Handyman operational areas come on line in Oxfordshire (North and South), southern Northants, North Herts, and an expansion of our office staff August 2006 - 50plus welcomes a range of new corporate clients including manufacturing industry, a restaurant chain, an international relocation company and a museum. May 2006 - Baby boomers want to continue working past normal retirement age, according to a survey. Fifty-eight per cent of people in their 50s and 60s who were still working said they wanted to carry on after 65 and 10% did not want to retire at all. But 64% also felt it was impossible to get a new job once they were within 10 years of state pension age. The survey of 1,770 people was carried out for Heyday, a new group aimed at people born between 1946 and 1965. The organisation, which has been set up by Age Concern, is similar to the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). May 06 - The Daily Telegraph publishes an article including the results of a Saga survey saying how the public prefer 50 plus plumbers, electricians, builders and decorators and how they found them more reliable. We welcome Richard Steane as the franchisee Jan 06 - Henry Talbot, 1943-2006. Henry Talbot worked for 50plus Handyman in the West London area. Sadly he died in early January of cancer, just a few months after being diagnosed. We will miss his wit and cheerful humour. Jan 06 - 50plus announces the launch of its garden maintenance, hard & soft landscaping service in the Chilterns Jan 06 - 50plus Handyman teams up with 50+ Insurance to support a range of home insurance packages.
