50plus Handyman provides a professional and guaranteed property maintenance service for householders and businesses. The service is provided by a mature workforce for people of all ages, offering experience and reliability to all our customers.

The 50plus Handyman service* includes:

			Plumbing maintenance and small works; from tap washers to new showers. For larger works visit 50plus Plumbing
			Electrical maintenance and small works; from minor repairs to new sockets and lights including works requiring Part P notification. For larger works vist 50plus Electrical

Service Packages

50plus Handyman has service packages tailored for most customers including:

For domestic customers, landlords and letting agents:

• A Pay As You Go service with a simple half hourly rate for the smaller jobs
• Fixed prices for jobs we can reasonably estimate which are over 8 man hours in duration
• Electrical, gas, EPC certificates and more for landlords and letting agents. Click for further information

For commercial customers:

• A Pay As You Go service with a simple half hourly rate for the smaller jobs
• Fixed prices for jobs we can reasonably estimate which are over 8 man hours in duration
• Tailored packages with rates dependent on time of response and the time of day the work is undertaken
• Installation services for customers supplying goods or equipment that needs installing in customer premises
• Preventative maintenance programmes and project management.

Charges

Pay As You Go charges for smaller jobs

Pay As You Go is designed for smaller jobs. Charges vary by area, reflecting local operating costs. Our prices in South East England are:

• Tiny Tasks: one off fee of £10 per visit
• Decorating (£ estimated per job)
• Basic Works: first hour £45, then £19 per half hour
• Plumbing & Electrical Plus: first hour £53, then £22 per half hour.

VAT is added to these prices in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Middlesex, South Oxfordshire (including Oxford) and West Hertfordshire. There is no call out fee and no mileage charge. Larger electrcal, plumbing and decorating works are usually estimated.

Outside the South East lower charges generally apply. The majority of areas do not charge VAT.

Discounts are available for pensioners and FSB members.

Day rates are designed for larger jobs over 8 hours or more. As with Pay As You Go, charges vary by area, reflecting local operating costs. Please enquire for details.

Prices apply 0800 to 1800 Monday to Friday. We charge an additional 30% for working on evenings and on Saturday mornings and an additional 50% working on for Sundays. Any parking or road charge fees we are required to pay will be added to your invoice. If you live in an area with restricted parking let us know. We do ask that where applicable customers supply a residents parking/visitors permit to allow us to park.

Unless you have made a prior arrangement with us our fees are due to the Handyman on completion of the work.

If you need to postpone an appointment please let us know at least 24 hours in advance or on the previous Friday if the job is for a Monday.

If you do need to cancel an appointment please give us at least 24 hours notice or let us know by the previous Friday if the job is for a Monday, otherwise a cancellation fee of the minimum one hour charge may be applicable.

Who provides the service

The service is provided locally by direct employees or appointed 50plus Handyman franchisees. Many are trained engineers. An exception is gas engineers who are contractors as they need to be Corgi registered. 50plus itself is registered for electrical work.

Estimates

Estimates are normally provided free of charge. Smaller jobs of up to a day in duration will normally be estimated over the telephone. Larger jobs may require a visit to enable an estimate to be provided.

50plus Handyman provides 'fixed price' estimates based on prices listed in 'The Property Makeover Price Guide, published by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. The price is fixed with the exception of: (i) any changes you ask for during the course of the works and (ii) any untoward items we find that could not reasonably be ascertained before the work began. If we cannot provided a fixed price we will provide an estimate on a time and material basis, which means that you pay for our time on an hourly basis (for each person employed on the project) and for any material we use during the course of the works.
