Wouldn't it be fantastic if we could be warned of, and prepare for problems that occur in our homes before they happen? That would stop everything coming at once, and enable us to plan and prepare financially. The HomeCare & Repair service is all about trying to prevent those emergencies from happening. HomeCare & Repair is a low cost service for householders that brings an annual visit by an experienced 50plus Handyman to carry out a physical check-up of your home and if required the organisation to get repairs undertaken when they are required. The service comprises:
You may choose to select the service as a gift, enabling you to assist in taking care of a relative or friend. A gift card and service details will be mailed to the recipient of your choice. What does the service cost? You can join the Handyman HomeCare & Repair service for a single annual payment of £75. After the first year renewal is just £50. Costs are shown inclusive of VAT. We accept payment by cheque and credit/debit card for one off annual payments or by standing order for monthly payments.
Who provides the service? The service is provided locally by 50plus Handyman who utilise a mature workforce, offering experience and reliability to all our customers. How to obtain the HomeCare & Repair service To obtain service please telephone 50plus Handyman on 0845 22 50 495 between 9am and 5pm week days and 9am to 12 midday on Saturdays with messages taken outside these hours. You are charged a local call rate only. Alternatively apply online by clicking here. What is the HomeCare & Repair service? A subscription service for householders that brings you an annual visit by an experienced 50plus Handyman to carry out a physical check-up of the whole of your home. The check-up is designed to identify any parts of your property that might cause you problems in the coming year if they are not maintained, repaired or serviced in time. The Handyman will show you each problem found, if any, and explain what needs doing to fix it, how soon it should be done and what range of cost might be involved. This on-the-spot verbal report will be followed up with a written one. Why use the service? Emergency repairs tend to be very costly and are often disruptive. The 50plus annual HomeCare & Repair HomeCheck is all about trying to prevent those emergencies from happening - 'a stitch in time saves nine' as the proverb goes. By anticipating what might go wrong and explaining how to prevent it we hope to help you avoid paying the high cost of emergency repairs. Knowing what needs doing and what it is likely to cost then puts you in a position to choose when the work is done and who to do it. If you want 50plus Handyman to do any work for you your annual home check-up subscription entitles you a 10% discount on all work that we do for you during the year. Where is the service available? The 50plus annual home check-up is available in all areas where we operate. We cover a good deal of England. Please click here for a list of locations where service is available. When it happens Your first 50plus annual home check-up will be scheduled within six weeks of our receiving your subscription details and annually thereafter. Please note that all your details will be kept completely confidential and that we do not share information with or pass it on to any other organisations. How does it work in practice Your 50plus annual home check-up will be carried out by a named member of our team (who will show identification) on a mutually agreed date and time. It will be carried out in daylight hours, as the Handyman needs to be able to check over the exterior and will take, on average, about an hour. The Handyman will then work systematically through a checklist covering every aspect of your property from roof to drains and from outside to inside. This will include an over view of the walls, roof and floors, the condition and security of doors and windows, the type and condition of the plumbing and heating fittings, the type and condition of the electrical system, rainwater guttering, soil and waste pipes, kitchen and bathroom fittings, loft insulation and so on. This information, which will be included in the written report, is relevant to the ongoing maintenance of your property. Its availability makes it easier for anyone needing to carry out work to be properly informed in advance. Anything that is found to need attention will be noted on the report. It will be up to you whether to decide to commission any work or whether to use 50plus Handyman. We will advise you and not try to sell you anything. If you do decide to use 50plus Handyman to undertake any work you will receive a 10% discount on our normal rates - published here. If advice is needed at other times you the householder or a relative or friend can telephone 50plus Handyman (Monday to Friday 0900 to 1700). Before starting the check-up the Handyman will seek your permission to take digital photographs of any problems identified as well as of specific items such as heating or electrical installations for future reference. You will be shown all the pictures at the end of the check-up to ensure that you are happy that we have them on file. Typical questions (and answers) Q. Do I qualify for the 50plus Handyman HomeCare & Repair service? A. Customers of any age qualify for the 50plus Handyman service. Our service providers are mature (their age range spans the forties to the sixties). Q. How detailed is the HomeCheck report? A. The HomeCare & Repair report is a form some six pages long. It provides a general overview of the property so we know about it if we need to make a repair and covers the external and internal parts and the services. Q. What happens if you spot something that 50plus Handyman doesn't do? A We will report the defect to you and recommend how to deal with it. Householders are under no obligation to use 50plus for any repairs. Q. How do I know if a caller is from 50plus Handyman? A. You will have a confirmed appointment and know the name of the caller who will carry identification. If you have any doubts please telephone the 50plus office and verify the callers name. Q.
