How 50plus works |

It's very simple to get that job completed with 50plus. You can book on-line including from your mobile, call us by telephone (with real people to talk to) or even text us. For geographical areas or in skills where 50plus does not have direct personnel you can use the 50plus People simple '1, 2, 3 and it's absolutely free' post a job service to enable other service providers to see you need work undertaking. This is monitored by 50plus and all service providers will have signed up to the 50plus code of conduct. When you call 50plus we will take your details (or confirm them if you are an existing customer) and find out what needs doing. We'll see if we can judge how long the job(s) will take, talk you through the charges and either book an appropriate person for a suitable amount of time or have the right person call you to book an appointment. Charges vary by area. If you book on-line the charges for services available in the selected area are displayed as part of the booking process. Payment methods are:
Our work carries a minimum 3 month warranty against faulty workmanship. Receipts for the work are issued at the time of completion. We very much encourage you to comment on our services. The services which 50plus provides in each post code are are available by keying in your post code on this site's home page. With the exception of Tiny Tasks (typically up to 15 minutes) our minimum charge is for one hour. There is no call out fee and no mileage charge. Larger works are usually estimated. Fault finding is a chargeable task. Discounts are available for pensioners and FSB members and via web offers. Day rates are designed for larger jobs over 8 hours or more and can attract substantial discounts. Prices apply 0800 to 1800 Monday to Friday. We charge an additional 30% for working on evenings and on Saturday mornings and an additional 50% for working on Sundays. Any parking or road charge fees we are required to pay will be added to your invoice. If you live in an area with restricted parking let us know. We do ask that where applicable customers supply a residents parking/visitors permit to allow us to park. Materials and parts are charged at cost plus 20% if we purchase. Customers are welcome to supply their own materials and 50plus can advise on requirements. If you need to postpone an appointment please let us know at least 24 hours in advance or on the previous Friday if the job is for a Monday. If you do need to cancel an appointment please give us at least 24 hours notice or let us know by the previous Friday if the job is for a Monday, otherwise a cancellation fee of the minimum one hour charge may be applicable. Who provides the service The service is provided locally by direct employees or appointed 50plus service providers. Any gas personnel are Gas Safe registered. 50plus is NICEIC registered for electrical work. Where jobs are 'posted' by end users on 50plus People, service providers who have registered on the 50plus web site may contact you. 50plus tracks service providers download of customer contact details. Estimates Estimates are normally provided free of charge. Smaller jobs of up to a day in duration will normally be estimated over the telephone. Larger jobs may require a visit to enable an estimate to be provided. If we need to dismantle items or undertake fault finding this is a chargeable task. If we cannot provide a fixed price we will provide an estimate on a time and material basis, which means that you pay for our time on an hourly basis (for each person employed on the project) and for any material we use during the course of the works. The central organisation carries £5m public liability insurance. 50plus associate service providers and franchises carry a minimum of £1m public liability insurance. Q. How do I know if a caller is from 50plus? A. With the exception of customers who have 'posted' a job on-line you will have a confirmed appointment and know the name of the 50plus service provider.
