Sealant replacement - how much? |
| Home |
Typical sealant replacement works include:
Replacing sealant around a bath or shower requires the old sealant to be removed, the bath, or shower and tiles cleaned so no old sealant particles remain and the new sealant put in place. It is the removal of the old sealant which takes the most time. When sealant has been replaced don't use the bath or shower for 24 hours. It is worth mentioning three other points:
Replacing sealant along worktop is similar to the shower/bath situation in that the old sealant has to be removed and the new fitted. Worktop is prone to collecting grease which can prevent sealant working so the cleaning part is important, even though you probably won't be splashing so much water about. Sealant is also used along floor edges, particularly vinyl and this is particularly prone to collecting dirt and discolouring. Bleaching is not recommended on vinyl.
